ONE TEAM, ONE NATION

Japan versus America. A small country that has been through a catastrophe that got thousands of lives against a gigantic and powerful nation. Seems like a David and Goliath face-off, the women’s football team of Japan defeated the women’s football team of America. Despite the latter’s magnificent comeback after Brazil, they were left astounded when Japan stroked their winning penalty shot.

Hard work and unity proved to be their keys in bringing home with them the bacon to Japan. It was their country’s recovery that became their driving force to win the World Cup. They wanted to uplift Japan from the recent tempest that devastated their loved nation-the shocking earthquakes and the killer tsunami.

The team were grateful for the support their countrymen gave them during the fight. At the wake of the championship, Japanese fans came to Tokyo wearing Japan jerseys while hugging each other and singing their hearts out for the team. When their team successfully kicked the ball that gave them the trophy, they cheered triumphantly and even for that special day alone, the gloom and burden they have been carrying since that March 11 tragedy, were uplifted and forgotten even for a while.
